We want to interrupt food insecurity. Quickly.
The reality is: The American government has failed. People are hungry, access to food is limited, and this is the time to put ourselves into community with one another. Food banks are overwhelmed and oftentimes have barriers to access. Transportation continues to be a quality of life blocker for many Americans. We’re working tirelessly to connect members of your local community who are facing food insecurity with members who are able to provide one delivered meal kit per week. We’ve developed options for those willing to Accept meals from their community to choose from, in an effort to standardize the expected budget for those who are able to shop and deliver these kits, and simplify feeding our village.
Recipients of Mutual Ground’s meal kits will receive all of the ingredients required to cook one hot meal for their household per week. Kits are delivered discretely and contactless for the safety of the community and the comfort of the recipient. This is not a mission that pats you on the back - this is a mission that seeks to feed your neighbor.
Food is a human right. There is enough to go around, and we’re ready to Gather with you.
FAQs
-
Our goal is to feed the hungry. If you tell us you’re hungry, you meet the requirements, and Mutual Ground is happy to have you here.
-
Mutual Ground runs on volunteers and optimism. As long as there are people in your local area who are committed to sharing meals with their neighbors, you may stay a part of the Mutual Ground community.
-
Mutual Ground has put every stopgap in place to ensure that food delivery is coordinated thoughtfully, and with the utmost safety of both parties in mind. Mutual Ground expressly prohibits communication between the Accepting and Sharing parties unless it has been otherwise coordinated and agreed upon by all parties. Mutual Ground cannot be held responsible for any safety or security concerns which may arise from meal kit deliveries, and will comply with law enforcement officials to prosecute any community member which uses Mutual Ground volunteering time to negatively impact their community.
Your safety is important to us and any safety issues or comfort concerns are strongly encouraged to be reported to Mutual Ground’s team at mutualgroundcontact@gmail.com. We will not tolerate a lack of kindness associated with our mission. -
The beauty of Mutual Ground is that we can serve anyone anywhere. This is a completely de-centralized way of obtaining food assistance. We’re asking community members to lean on each other anonymously. Offers to provide meal kits are filtered alongside meal kit applications so that we can match community members geographically. Entering your information into one of our Accept A Meal or Share A Meal applications will automatically establish your region as a region Mutual Ground serves.
We are asking you to kick it old school with us, and tell your friends that we exist. Check out and share our social media pages, tell a co-worker to tell his mom. The sky is the limit for Mutual Ground’s reach.
With that being said, this is a growing organization. We have hubs of Mutual Ground users scattered throughout the country, and those hubs will continue to grow and multiply as we gain traction. We may not be able to meet every need right away. We encourage you to spread the word, especially if you’ve been in our meal kit queue for a while. This may mean that there is a lack of visibility of our organization in your community at this time. We’ll do our best to provide you with other local resources, and keep your information stored securely until a match can be found. -
Please donate any unused or unwanted food items before they reach expiry. Meal kit contents shouldn’t be surprising, as we’ve standardized the expected core ingredients for each kit. We operate on the honor system, which means we believe you when you say you’re hungry, and we believe our volunteers when they say they’re trying their best. You’re welcome to provide specific feedback, should extreme quality issues arise. We will dismiss members of the community from our volunteer opportunities if they cannot adhere to Mutual Ground expectations and guidelines.

You may select one of four menu options. Find the ingredients included in each kits on the This Week’s Recipes page of this website. Volunteers who have committed to sharing a meal are allowed to add things to your kit, such as extra treats and hygiene items. Certain items are prohibited, such as alcoholic, drugs, and any materials which may make our recipients uncomfortable, such as religious or political materials.

Please fill out the Contact Us form to discuss how you can support our efforts to feed communities.
Crowd-sourced funding in the future will be used to distribute micro-grants to meal kit recipients in an effort to improve their food access and security as well as to our meal sharing community members in an effort to reduce spending.
The best thing you can do for Mutual Ground if you cannot directly donate or contribute is to tell a friend - or everyone you know. The greater the reach we have, the bigger the impact we can create. We serve anyone we are able to match, and need your help to make those matches. -
In some cases, Mutual Ground volunteers purchasing groceries may be able to provide substitutes based on allergies and restrictions. The Accept A Meal form will gather all necessary information.
Note that Mutual Ground cannot guarantee the exact ingredients which will be provided in meal kits. It will be your responsibility as a meal kit recipient to do the due diligence of checking labels if necessary, and not consuming any food which you are unsure of.
