When You Commit to Providing Meal Kits for Mutual Ground in Your Community
Our communities are trusting us to show up for each other compassionately, and as such, Mutual Ground volunteers are held to high standards. Please review the volunteer expectations outlined below and note that an inability to adhere to these guidelines while participating in Mutual Ground’s volunteering opportunities will result in removal from the program.
Once a “Share A Meal” form has been completed, a member of the Mutual Ground team will reach out to thank you for your interest in partnering. As this movement grows, we may not have need in your area yet. Please share Mutual Ground with your friends and family to ensure your local community is aware of our offerings. Once an “Accept A Meal” form has populated in your local area, Mutual Ground will reach out with delivery instructions and their shopping list.
We ask that you shop for your assigned neighbor based on the list of ingredients which we will provide once your match for the week is confirmed. You should only buy variations of ingredients that are within your budget. You should not negatively impact yourself financially for this initiative. Meal Sharers are given autonomy over substitutions when ingredients can’t be sourced. We trust members of our village to make kind and sensible choices while shopping for their neighbors. We are asking you to deliver the ingredients as-is. Please do not attempt to prepare home-cooked food for your assigned neighbor. Mutual Ground volunteers are not equipped to comply with state and federal laws and/or food safety and handling guidelines, and this should be treated as any other grocery delivery order would be.
Mutual Ground Sharing members are expected only to purchase ingredients for their neighbors as expressly listed on their menu offering selection for the week. You are welcome to add additional food or hygiene products to your meal kit delivery if you feel called to do so.
The day of your scheduled meal kit delivery, we’ll ask you to deliver your purchased meal kit to an assigned delivery address. Deliveries are made without contact. Volunteers are requested to kindly place the meal kit in a designated safe space, knock or ring the bell, and then return to their vehicle. Your meal kit recipient has been instructed to wait at least 30 seconds before opening their door in order to guarantee anonymity during meal kit delivery.
Prohibited items: We exist to feed our neighbors, regardless of the political, religious, or cultural affiliations. Do not include any items which may offend the person or family receiving your meal kit. We absolutely will not tolerate distribution of materials which may make receiving parties uncomfortable. When acting as a Mutual Ground volunteer, we expect a secular approach to community care. Do not include any drugs, alcohol, or items which would not be safe to consume by minors.
